Story shared by visitors

Bought the brick in loving memory of our father. Unfortunately passed in 1995 so never saw the stadium we have now but was a lifelong Lads supporter. He recounted that he was in attendance in 1933 at the record crowd against Derby. First took me to Roker in the 60’s and would sneak me in hiding under his coat to get through the turnstiles. He was in the Merchant Navy all his life and used to be away working a lot. So when home we used to do the week about at Roker and St James, but Sunderland were the true love being a Suddick lad. Unfortunately had a stroke in the late 80’s and never got back to follow the lads. He saw a league championship win and two FA Cups so not a bad haul. As per his wishes he had his ashes scattered at the entrance of the River Wear by the Pilot Cutter so had the brick done as a memorial to him and his lifelong support.
